Empire Day, A Band to feed you, Dark ambient poetry for the mind! They blend music of all genres, to bring Music for the new millennium. Their stage show can only be described as "Amazing". With the power of hard rock and the spirituality of Goth. Hooks from 70's & 80's pop, and electronic art of today! This band is one to listen to, one to see, and one to watch. Call them Goth call them pop call them rock, It's JUST GOOD!!!
A three piece band hailing from outside of Chicago, IL. We strive to create a listening experience like no other! With the founding members writing and recording for over 10 years together, and the collaborators on this long journey, have claimed a niche on the popular music front, without loosing their underground roots. Marvin, the Vocal clown, with his powerfully poetic lyrics, and trance like voice. Has been involved in singing since a young boy, inspired by his mothers talent. Rich, our guitarist extraordinaire, with his eclectic taste in music, and solid playing. Has been touched by music since his birth, inspired by the art of reality, with a background in percussion, strings, and chorus. Eric, our Beethoven, with his ability to write, and sequence the back bone of our music, Has been touched my music since the dawn of time, starting at an early age with a variety of instruments from woodwinds, reeds, brass and percussion.
Our live show is an all original music show, with the occasional obscure “cover” tune thrown in for extra entertainment value. Although the music can only be described as modern Rock, there are hints of so many styles; from British Pop and, classical! to Dark Alternative, and blues! The Stage show is theatrical, with the use of lighting and props when space is available.
With the energy and emotion of Hard Rock, and the spirituality of Goth, this band is a pleasure to see and hear! This creates an atmosphere, that music fans of all genres will enjoy. Re-named in 1997, as Empire Day; We have created the right mixture of pop/rock/alternative to fill the void in this new millennium!

like a movie for the ears,
A Siren for the people"...Rich

in words,
I expose with my guitar"

...Rich chose the RED pill!
He lives life through music, pain,
and Passion! and passion...Emanates from within the soul of Rich. Passion & Pain fuel the style
of his playing, growing up in Detroit gave Rich

"I view the sounds and textures I create and add to the songs of Empire
Day as an extension of my emotions - the way the music makes me feel and the
direction those emotions take the song" is the way keyboardist Eric McLear
explains his role in Empire Day.
With an expansive musical background
starting at an early age with a
variety of instruments
- from woodwinds, reeds, brass and percussion - Eric's
experience fuels the creative fire that becomes the Empire Day sound.
Combining such a classical background with a contemporary flare for such
groups as Depeche Mode and Duran Duran, the result is truly unique and
inviting. Eric uses a variety of keyboards, modules and even software to
create. From chopping up samples to programming sequences or sounds from the
ground up, the process is long and involved - but no corners are cut in
search of the defining Empire Day sound.
"The song is more than just an important element of the sound" Eric
explains, "it is the ultimate goal - to combine the textures created by the
entire group and unify that in sound and direction is more than just playing
the same progressions of chords for 5 minutes. The right sound, either dark
and mysterious or warm and deep, is the key to my role in the group. My goal
is to inspire you to feel - to truly explore the way our music makes you
feel. That, for me, is the ultimate explanation of Empire Day
